A Parent’s Guide to A Successful Recital Experience

Preparations for our recital “IF THE SHOE FITS” are fully underway. Our recital information page contains all info you will need. Those who have been with us before will find that most of the information here is similar to last year; however, each year there are always changes, so please read this page thoroughly. If this is your first recital, the amount of information will be very useful to you. We are always here to help you If you have any questions.

Note:  We have sent your Recital Newsletter, if you have not yet received, please contact the studio. Please confirm which show your dancer is in before you purchase your recital  tickets.

Ticket Sale Procedure

  • In which show or shows will your child be performing? Download 2018 Show Participation Sheet
  • Tickets go on sale ONLINE ONLY on May 20th at 12:00 p.m (credit or debit only) and ends on Thursday, June 8th at Noon. Tickets needed after that date must be purchased at the theater for $30.00 (cash only).
  • Ticket Prices:
    Rows A – J (center orchestra): $23.00 per ticket
    All other seats: $20.00 per ticket
  • All seating is reserved in our beautiful air-conditioned theater.
  • Performers do not need to purchase a ticket.
  • Children 18 months or under may sit on an adult’s lap.

Please print your online-purchased tickets at home and bring them with you to the event.

The 2018 Show Participation Sheet is available for you to download and view before purchasing tickets.

Performers Arrival Procedure

Students must arrive at the Theater one hour before showtime. See chart below.

  • If your child is performing in more than one routine, they are to arrive wearing the costume for the first routine that they perform in. The other costume(s) must be in a separate hanging bags clearly labeled with the child’s name, and name of the other routine and dance number.
  • Only performers will enter the theater at the “performers entrance” (follow signs). No one else is permitted entry at this location. NO ONE.
  • Our 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 year old parents will drop off at the “performer’s entrance” and their class mom will escort them to their designated area (you will not be allowed entry). They are to come completely dressed with dance shoes on their feet. No jewelry is to be worn. Hair and makeup performance ready.
  • No bags, drinks or food. Nothing is to come in with them. Our class moms will provide them with everything they need.
  • Show Procedure: All students stay until the end of the entire show. After their performance they go back to sit with their class and go up on stage again for the finale. We appreciate your cooperation for your child’s safety that we do not release children until the end of the show. Children ages 8 and under will be dismissed from the stage at the conclusion of the finale!
  • Performers are to be dropped off at the performers entrance 1 hour prior to showtime. See the show time and check-in schedule on this page for more details.

To help things run more smoothly, we will be assigning times for your dancer to be at dress rehearsal. Your dress rehearsal time will be posted at a later date. Please arrive 15 minutes before your “call time” completely ready to rehearse. Your hair must be done, make-up and costume on. Shoes may be put on once you arrive at the rehearsal venue. If your child is in more than one number, have them arrive dressed in their first costume. They do not have to change costumes for other numbers.

Each class is given 5 minutes to rehearse their numbers. Please do not be late as we are on a very tight schedule and cannot wait for latecomers. Once they perform, they will be escorted to the photographers to have their pictures taken and will be met by their parents.

We want to ensure that everyone has an understanding of how everything will work for you and your children. Please read through the information carefully and call our main office (201-385-4114) if you have any further questions.

Videotaping & Photography

Individual pictures will be taken immediately after your child’s dress rehearsal. For your convenience there will be 2 photographers available to help preserve the wonderful memory.

Videotaping and photography will only be allowed during dress rehearsal. Since many people will be videotaping during dress rehearsal, we are asking you and your children to remain seated to give everyone the opportunity to film or take pictures of their children.

The use of video or photography equipment of any kind is strictly prohibited during our shows. With all the internet issues, we do not want to take any chances and jeopardize the safety of our dancers. Anyone seen with a camcorder or camera of any kind will be escorted out of the building. Thank you for your cooperation. NO SMART PHONES!

Please print these forms, fill them out and bring them with you — with your payment — to dress rehearsal. Your video of the concert will be mailed to your home.

Day of Concert

Please bring your child to the side door marked “Performers’ Entrance.” They are required to check in one hour before show time. From there, they will be escorted to where they will be sitting during the show. Our youngest dancers (2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 year olds) will be seated in the balcony with the designated “class moms” of their class. The class moms as well as our own personnel will have a listing of all the children in each class and in which number they will perform. Class moms will escort the class backstage, wait for them to perform and then escort them back to their seats. Our older dancers will be waiting in the “dressing rooms,” will be called to line up prior to their performance and return to the dressing rooms when the number is done. If they have a change of costume for another number, they will be assigned to the appropriate dressing room.

Costume Change

If your child is performing in more than one routine, send them to their performance in the costume they are performing in first. The 2nd costume must be a garment bag with a clearly marked label indicating name, dance number and song name.

Please note: parents are not permitted backstage unless they are assigned as “class moms”. There is no food or drink permitted in the auditorium. Class moms will take your child to the restroom as needed and our office staff knows where each parent will be seated in case they need to get you.

Grand Finale

At the end of the show, we will have a Grand Finale where all the children will come back out on stage for a final bow.

Please keep in mind that we have found from past experience that the children like to come back on stage for the finale at the end of the show.

Pick-up After the Show

After the finale, our 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 7 and 8 year old children will be dismissed from the stage to their parents by class supervised by class moms, teachers, and senior dancers. All others will return to their “dressing rooms” to retrieve their belongings. Parents will meet them back at the performers’ entrance.

Flower Boutique

On the day of our show, visit our Flower Boutique. Show your child his/her hard work is appreciated. The flower boutique is available in the theater lobby.
